The Premier Napa Event is a trade-only tasting and live auction of one-of-a-kind lots made by some of Napa’s best wineries. The proceeds from this auction benefit the Napa Vintners Association to promote Napa wines and the region. The wines tend to be a best barrel, best section of the vineyard, an unusual blend that the winery has never done to wines that they have never sold commercially. To top it all off, the owners and winemakers are present at one time or another so you can meet, greet and pick their brains about their wines.

We were successful in winning the bid on the 2003 Luna Vineyards Oak Knoll District Merlot. This is a blend of 97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc. This Merlot is a spectacular representation of fruit from Luna’s flagship vineyard in the newly-created Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley. The cooler temperatures in this region produce elegant, sophisticated wine with intense aromatics and rich, supple texture. Picked at the height of ripeness, this Merlot exhibits concentrated fruit flavors and silky tannins, a perfect balance of power and grace. There are only 60 bottles of this one-off wine, so lovers of Luna should not hesitate to secure a bottle or two.
